Day 3

Today was a rest day.  Arrived here at William’s Lake, BC on Wednesday afternoon.

IMG_0167.JPGWe stayed at the stampede park, located on the grounds of the park.  They are readying for the upcoming stampede which is held the first week-end in July.  Supposedly the town will be bustling with cowboys and horses!

Warm day, almost 32 degrees (88 for us non-metric folks.)  Took a hike around Scout Island here in town

IMG_0174.JPGIMG_0177.JPGOf course, after such a long and hot hike, a stop at the Laughing Loon for a cold refreshments and a plate of mussels …

Off to Prince George!

Day 2 – British Columbia

Day 2 – British Columbia

Left around 9am this morning from Boston Bar and traveled along Hwy 1 until Cache Creek, BC where we caught BC Highway 97

Stoped for a little lunch in Cache Creek, BCIMG_0157.JPG

and then moved on to William’s Lake, BC.  Arrived at 2pm, drove 200  miles today, and are staying for 2 nights.  2-2-2!  A fellow blogger at one time at suggested that 2-2-2 is a good policy…

Drove into town to pick-up some of the local brew.  Labatt’s, it’ll have to do!IMG_0164.JPG

Day 1 AK here we come!

Day 1

Left Lake Ki,  Washington this morning around 9am.  Made it thru the Border Crossing at Sumas, WA, no sweat.  Standard questions, how much cash (not enough), booze, (really?) any fresh fruits or vegetables, how about your firearm, pepper spray, who’s dog is that (Jake’s) have a nice day!!  We had anticipated more questions, more time.

First stop was Cosco to restock to freezer.  Oh, oh, they don’t take VISA.  Evidently the Canadian Costco doesn’t like the VISA, MC is fine.  Always a hiccup!

Next challenge, KM to mph, Loonies/twonnies to US dollars, liters to gallons, who knew all this math!

Pulled off around 3pm (yes the clock is still the same as the USA!)  About 180 miles (who cares about kilometers…) Nice little campground just outside of Boston Bar, BC, just in time for Happy Hour!IMG_0150.JPG

Cheers!

-1 day…

Laundry, done. Water tank full. Diesel Full.  I guess we are ready!

Tuesday AM we will cross into Canada for the summer trip to Alaska.  Dog shots and paper work all in order.  Passports are at the ready.  Maps have been scoured over and over.  We are ready!

Spent the last few days north of Seattle, Smokey Point, WA alongside Lake Ki.  Nice little campground, busy week-end but Monday afternoon most everybody pulled out.

Took a short trip to the Cascade Mountain National Park visitor’s center,

and toured around the Pueget Sound.  Mainly, just got things ready to cross over.

More from the other side…

Oregon

Hello from the Oregon Coast!  We have spent the last month along Highway 101 enjoying the coastline of Oregon.  After leaving Utah, we spend a week around Crater Lake.  Rented a boat on the Rogue River, tried our luck, neigh, no luck at fishing.  Very interesting highways along the coast.  The 101 goes up, down, around corners and thru many small towns!

After we parked at Harris Beach State Park, we drove back to California and toured the Redwoods.IMG_2108

Quite awesome!  Found the oysters at Umquia Light House State Park and are spending our final evening at Nehalem Bay State Park.

More later, maybe some pics too!
